Bad news for Chelsea star - Van Ginkel ruled out for six months

Chelsea midfielder Marco Van Ginkel has been ruled out of action for approximately six months after undergoing anterior cruciate ligament surgery, the Blues have confirmed

The Netherlands international was substituted after just 10 minutes on Tuesday evening after a challenge by Swindon midfielder Alex Pritchard. The 20-year-old initially played on following the tackle but hobbled off minutes later.

Good news for Arsenal fans! Wenger wants to stay at Arsenal forever

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would happily see out the rest of his years at the north London club whose consistent support over nearly 17 years in the post has made him shun plenty of other job offers.

The longest-serving manager in the Premier League by around 14 years, Wenger told a news conference on Friday that majority shareholder Stan Kroenke's belief that the Frenchman was central to his long-term vision for the club was a big boost.

Swansea - Arsenal Preview

New signing Mesut Ozil, who arrived from Real Madrid for a club-record transfer fee, has made a bright start to life at Arsenal and will again be expected to star, while Olivier Giroud heads into the fixture joint top of the league's scoring charts.

Giroud has netted four goals in his five Barclays Premier League matches this term, while Wales midfielder Aaron Ramsey is also in outstanding form. The 22-year-old has already netted seven strikes for Arsenal in all competitions this season, including four in his last three matches.

Man Utd - West Brom Preview

The Barclays Premier League champions have made a stuttering start to their league campaign, winning just two of their first five matches to be in eighth and suffered a 4-1 drubbing at the hands of rivals Manchester City last Sunday.

United quickly recovered against Liverpool as Javier Hernandez's close-range strike helped them to victory, and manager David Moyes will be hoping to use that momentum to see off West Brom.

Tottenham Hotspur - Chelsea Preview

The White Hart Lane club have a poor record against their Stamford Bridge counterparts, having posted only three wins in their 42 previous meetings since the competition's inception in 1992. They have failed to beat Chelsea in their last six top-flight encounters, with their last victory coming courtesy of goals from Jermain Defoe and Gareth Bale in a 2-1 home success in April 2010.

Fulham - Cardiff Preview

The London club sit in the relegation zone of the English top flight having picked up just one point from their last four outings after an opening-day victory over Sunderland. But, after Dimitar Berbatov and Darren Bent inspired a 2-1 Capital One Cup win over Everton in midweek, Jol is hoping his charges can kick on in the league.

Aston Villa - Manchester City Preview

Manchester City will look to build on their 4-1 Premier League demolition of rivals Manchester United when they travel to Aston Villa on Saturday.

Manuel Pellegrini's side produced a masterclass at the Etihad Stadium last Sunday, as a Sergio Aguero double and further strikes from Yaya Toure and Samir Nasri consigned the reigning champions to a heavy defeat.
